In case you missed it, Alex Crawford of Sky news produced this extraordinary, gripping report from inside Zawiyah as Gaddafi’s troops tried to retake it. Some of the footage from the hospital is harrowing. At one point she and her team are in an ambulance that come sunder fire from Gaddafi’s forces. There are some remarkable journalists producing remarkable work out of Libya – our own Richard Spencer, Adrian Blomfield, Nick Meo and Julian Simmonds have been in the thick of it since the uprising started – but Crawford’s sparse account, which lets the footage do the reporting, is riveting. It is accounts like this one that can tilt public and government opinion in favour of military action. Latest reports say Zawiyah is now back under Gaddafi control, and it is disturbing to imagine what retribution is being carried out against those shown in this film.
